5 Ways to Keep Romance Alive During Covid-19

by All Maxim Hygiene, Culture

Love in the time of Covid — it’s been ridiculously tough. From not being able to hold our partners or care for them when they’re ill, to having sex with masks on or foregoing kissing, keeping romance alive during this pandemic has been close to impossible. This Valentine’s Day, we encourage you to keep up the social distancing, no matter how tempting it is to break the rules just for a day. Here are five ways to keep romance alive and celebrate V-Day from a distance.

1. Write Them A Love Letter

It may sound old fashioned, but a handwritten love letter is one of the sweetest things a person can receive, and hold onto for years! In a time of digital and instant communications, a long-lasting and material declaration of your feelings can go a long way in making your partner feel special. They’ll also hardly be expecting it!

2. Facetime with Your Partner & Have a Special Date

Whether you choose to bring the picnic indoors, light some scented candles, or clink wine glasses over the camera, it’s a great idea to have a special facetime session with your partner this Valentine’s Day. Choose to get all dressed up, do your makeup, and play a game where you don’t have to be next to each other. If you don’t have the same game, try something like 20 Questions to get to know each other more deeply. You can create your own quizzes and send them to your partner digitally! If you don’t normally facetime with your partner, this is a great way to transition to a form of communication that’s a bit more intimate than calls or texting.

3. Send Them Something Special

Instead of being able to hand your partner a gift, you can always choose to send them something in the mail! Surprise them with something they’re not expecting like the traditional chocolates or flowers or something more unique like a puzzle, a cookbook so you both can try cooking the same dish, a self-love care package you put together for them with their favorite products, or a book of romantic poems you both can explore together.

4. Spoil Yourself

Speaking of a self-love care package, there’s no rule about not spoiling yourself this Valentine’s Day! Put together a special experience for yourself, regardless of if you’re celebrating with a partner, and choose to love yourself. Splurge on a scented body lotion, a piece of lingerie you can admire yourself in, a set of face masks you can use while binge watching rom-coms, or a CBD Lotion that can help relieve your pain! Remember, you set the mood.

5. Try Interactive Gifts

If you want something interactive, try a gift that allows you both to interact with each other like a ‘long distance friendship lamp’ that allows you to let the other person know you’re thinking of them and for them to respond. Another option is a ‘long distance’ vibrator that uses bluetooth or an app for control; your partner will be able to participate in your sexual experience even while being very socially distanced.

Whether or not you can see your partner in person for Valentine’s Day, there are ways to keep romance alive and celebrate the holiday that can grow your relationship and create intimacy, both emotionally and physically. Focus on getting to know your partner during the Pandemic, so that when you do meet, it’s as special as it can be. Remember if you do meet, to quarantine afterwards for a few days, to make sure you both are still healthy.
