Coming to a School Near You…Teaching Girls About Menstruation

The Healthy Hygiene Project

Two years ago our company’s Chief Flow Rider/Co-Founder taught a group of green feminine hygiene tweens at Bronx Park Middle School about #healthymenstruation practices via these menstrual care experiments that have been at the core of Maxim Hygiene’s product education methods. Considering the students’ enthusiasm for the subject matter (yes, they actually enjoyed talking about periods), these startling stats connecting menstrual education with a young girls’ likelihood to succeed in school, and next week’s celebration of National Women’s Health Week, we couldn’t think of a better time to announce the launch of a program that is teaching girls about menstruation.

The Healthy Hygiene Project

We’ve joined forces with our friends at Be Prepared Period to bring information about #healthyhygiene practices to a school near you via The Healthy Hygiene Project! This is an important lesson we’re striving to teach our girls so they can be fully informed about how they’re treating their bodies during such a sensitive time of the month. Our free lesson plans will get teens interested, learning and talking about menstruation in a fun and dynamic way. We even incorporated the highly taught scientific method in to the materials so teachers can get two lessons in one!

Whether it’s in our own local schools or abroad in third world countries, it’s become quite evident that #menstruationmatters We’ve even got a whole day dedicated to it coming up this month! Menstrual Hygiene Day happens every year on May 28th. It’s core mission is to to “break the silence and build awareness about the fundamental role that good menstrual hygiene management (MHM) plays in enabling women and girls to reach their full potential.” This is a mission we take on every day and one we’d like to give schools the tools to take on in a bigger and healthier way too!

Free Organic Feminine Hygiene Products for Schools

As an additional incentive for schools to take on this critical initiative, we’re pleased to announce that for all the schools that participate in The Healthy Hygiene Project we’ll donate one free case of Maxim natural feminine hygiene products to each school’s health office to distribute to students.

If interested, submit your information here and you’ll receive an email with the downloadable demo sheets, an exclusive coupon code to shop for feminine hygiene products at a discounted price and and the opportunity to participate in a fundraiser to help schools and non-profits raise support for continued health education via discounted rates on unique Organic Period 2-GO Kits.

How to improve your school’s menstrual care curriculum!

Call your children’s teachers, your local educators, your fellow parents and tell them to head to The Healthy Hygiene Project campaign page to download super fun and interactive demos about how to teach girls about menstruation and healthy hygiene practices.

Join us in taking this exciting new step to share — what you already know — the importance of being a fierce woman when it comes to your menstrual health and the benefits of using organic tampons and natural sanitary pads. We look forward to helping this next generation of girls understand the value of being informed about their products’ impact on the body…and the earth. Thank you for helping us spread the word and we can’t wait to hear your feedback.
