I actually have two: One that describes myself as a child and relates to my dreams and inspirations of being a rock star, and the other relates more to my actual self as an adult. My first favorite cartoon that I fell I love with was Jem and the Holograms! To be honest, I saw most of the episodes later in life but I vaguely remember the theme song and Jem had the cutest boyfriend, Rio. Jem real name was Jerrica ( which is similar to my name) and she was an independent, thoughtful person. She cared about her friends and the community and she ran a foster home for girls. Jem also had the best clothes and makeup. When she herself as Jerrica, she was cute and very professional but when Synergy, (her computerized audio-visual machine) transformed her to Jem and her friends became the Holograms they were true rock stars. They always defeated the Misfits (their arch-enemies) and Jerrica got her deceased father’s record label back.
As I got older cartoons seemed to get either redundant or just too childish for my interest. So when MTV premiered “Daria” I was so happy. I wasn’t quite a teenage yet, but I could totally relate to Daria and her family. Like Doria, I was the oldest sibling, I got good grades in school and I questioned everything with a smart remark. I was also a tomboy and didn’t care about fashion (wow, how the times have changed) and my best friend was just like me. Daria’s best friend Jane was an artistic compliment to Daria that had a cute brother named Trent. Trent was hot, and Daria had a crush on him but she never made it obvious that she liked him. I would lie in my bed and look at the ceiling for hours just like Daria and my younger sibling was a nuisance just like Daria’s younger sister Quinn.
