Taking Care of Post-Menstrual Acne

There are a lot of women who experience pre and post menstrual acne. Acne that occurs around this time is  due to the levels of estrogen in your body that is working to “renew” and restore itself as you go through your cycle.

If you are experiencing white heads you must remember to wash and tone your face to keep your pH balance in tact during your menstrual cycle. Also, drink tons of water to keep your body and skin hydrated. As tempting as it may be, never pick or try to pop the pimples head off!!!

You also don’t have to always use medicated products to treat your skin during your menstrual cycle. There are a few key natural ingredients you can look for to help diffuse the issues you might be having with your skin.

Vitamin C

Vitamin C is an active ingredient that lightens, tightens and brightens the skin. Most eye creams, cleansers and moisturizers use vitamin C to improve the skin’s texture and color.

Witchhazel

Witch hazel is a key element to toning your skin if you have oily skin.

Rose

Believe it or not, these beautiful flowers have amazing properties that can clear and protect skin. Rose water and moisturizers that all have rose in them all have properties similar to vitamin C.

Grapeseed

Grapes fight antioxidants like vitamin c does for your skin. Just think of it like this; drinking wine is good for the heart so adding products on your face with those same properties makes your skin hydrated and fights radicals.

The most important thing to understand about pre/post menstrual acne is it’s mainly hormonal so it is important to not pick at it because the bacteria in your fingers could make it worse.
