Every month your body goes through the same cycle of life that sometimes makes us emotional or tired. In I’m one of those women that have cramps and I get irritable so I find comfort in chocolate. More specifically, Reese Cup’s. I’m not sure what it is but the mix of peanut butter and chocolate makes me happy when I’m cramping and on my period. My favorite drink is pineapple orange juice and I would literally drink it by the gallon if I could. There is something about comfort period food that makes me calm. Maybe it’s because I don’t want to think about my period but it is usually because I don’t want to focus on being tired, or emotional and I just oblige into my cravings for sweets. I think Reese Cups became my “go to period food” when I was a teenager. Often times, when I was on my period and my boyfriend came to visit me after school, he would deliver a Reese Cup and some orange juice. This weird combination of vitamin c and chocolate somehow relieved me.
For awhile I thought it was because my boyfriend gave it to me and I figured it was a mind thing, but even after him I still found myself craving juice and chocolate. But I can’t have just any juice now; it has to be pineapple-orange juice! I can either make it at home (with my juicer) or I must buy the best (which is usually the most expensive) juice I can find. Sometimes I can’t always get what I want so I opt for cookies and cream ice cream- but only if I “remix” it. Basically, I take the ice cream, melt it then add more cookies to refreeze it. I know, it’s greedy but I’m a girl and I get my period so I can do whatever I please during my special time.
