This month is National Breast Cancer Month, and we at Maxim Hygiene, want to take the time to introduce a few apps to you that could help save your life or help you to educate the women in your life. Why is it so important that you care? Because about 1 in 8 women globally will develop breast cancer.

“mHealth”, or the integration of technology and health, has resulted in over 40,000 apps on the market – all which are designed to help people in managing their health. From tracking miles run for charity to caloric intake, these apps allow people to be more conscious about their lifestyle and habits.Screen Shot 2013-10-06 at 2.49.03 PM

One of the most important categories of these mobile health apps is that which focuses on prevention/education. While there are several companies working on technologies that will allow people to check for breast cancers using their smartphones, prevention apps have already been on the market, and been quite effective, for several years!

Many of these apps teach women how to conduct Breast Self Examinations (BSEs) – in order to teach women about how to properly identify suspicious lumps, earlier on, so that the chances of stopping the cancer in an early stage are higher.
About 40% of diagnosed breast cancer cases are detected by women who felt lumps themselves – hence, the necessity for regular checks. To help you do so, here are some of our favorite breast cancer prevention apps!
