Men have a reputation for getting really awkward when it comes to conversations around menstruation, but is this really true and can you really blame them?
Our primary focus as a company is the cultivation and embrace of Fierce Women, but this month, in lieu of Father’s Day, we’ve been honoring the great men in our circle who are just as fierce, specifically when it comes to taking care of the fierce women in their lives.
Based on our experience at Maxim Hygiene Products, where we interact with people from all over the world searching for healthier menstrual care products, we are amazed and overly humbled by the great men we encounter. They defy the great stereotype of men who cringe at the thought of periods. We’d like you to meet Ian and Michael, two grand cases in point…
Ian (pictured on the left) visits us every few months on his way home from work to pick up a case of his wife’s favorite Maxim Ultra Thin Winged Pads. Ian is always happy to go out of his way to take care of this request for his wife and this month we sent home with some free samples for his daughter too!
Michael (pictured on the right) is our electrician. He spent some extra quality time with us this month, helping us get ready for the big move to our new offices. During that time, Ken, Maxim’s Founding Father (pictured in the pic with Michael, wearing a pink shirt), took the opportunity to share some detailed product knowledge with Michael. We have to admit that Michael was a little hesitant at first, but by the time Ken got through to him about all the great benefits the women in his family could get by using organic and natural tampons and pads, he was happy to leave that day with a bag of free samples. He came back the next day with smiles and eager to tell us about how menstruation and organic and natural menstrual products made for an interesting conversation at dinner.
Another one of our favorite customers who asked to remain anonymous (we’ll call him “Mr. T” for the purpose of this story) calls us every few months to place an order of Maxim Maternity Pads for his wife who sadly has a terminal illness that keeps her bed-ridden and in need of an incontinence product that will not irritate her skin. Like many women in her situation or those dealing with weakening bladders that cause light urinal leakage, Mrs. T suffers from hypersensitivity to the chemicals and materials found in conventional incontinence pads because she has to wear pads on a daily basis. Using Maxim’s 100% chlorine free cotton pads helps relieve this one symptom of the many she unfortunately faces, under her already uncomfortable predicament. Although one of our sadder stories, we are always warmed by Mr. T’s gracious commitment to his wife’s comfort.
Keeping these stories in mind, we would say it’s no coincidence that the word “men” is found in the word “MENstruation.” Without the involvement of men in the understanding of menstruation and female reproductive systems, our feminine powers would not be able to flow so brightly! So thank you to all the men who are open to this truly mesmerizing female bodily function that is part of the gateway to the creation of life.
