May 9th, 2011. Today is National Women’s Checkup Day. Please join women everywhere by pledging to schedule an appointment with your healthcare professionals. Regular checkups are necessary to catch early signs of illnesses you might not be aware you have. Maxim Hygiene was developed around women’s health and, as such, we urge you to get on board with good habits!
National Women’s Health Week makes it SUPER EASY to figure out what you should be getting checked when you visit the doctor with its AWESOME Interactive Screening Tool. You can also just print a general screening guide here.
Because I feel healthy I don’t always think about seeing my physician for a routine checkup. This day reminds me how important it is to get professional advice, screenings, and tests to make sure I’m as healthy as I feel.
In addition to seeing your regular doc, schedule a visit with your O.B.G.Y.N. Sure, it’s a little uncomfortable, but I make sure to get my annual Pap Smear. Since the introduction of the Pap tests, cervical cancer has been reduced by an enormous percentage in populations where regular screenings are the norm! STD screenings are very important as well. Even if you do play it safe, it’s still good to check. It may be scary, but it helps with mental health day, which is on Friday.
Based on numbers between 2004 and 2008, 124 out of 100,000 women are diagnosed with breast cancer every year. Be Bright Pink is a fantastic organization that provides education and support to young women who are at high risk for breast and ovarian cancer.
And, of course, be sure to visit the National Women’s Health Week health resources for facts concerning women’s health.
The Maxim Hygiene team is committed to women’s health and women’s health awareness. This starts by making sure that you’re in the best health you can possibly be in. So please, call your doctor and schedule an appointment today!
