5 Non-Traditional #FierceWoman Ways to Honor the Tradition of Thanksgiving

by All Maxim Hygiene, Culture

All year long our blog looks to inspire the #FierceWoman spirit in you, encouraging you to be the beacons of light, change-makers and leaders of your communities. Whether it be to start a new health-oriented business like July’s #FWOTM Lorraine Vontista or running the London marathon with a taboo-breaking purpose like August’s #FWOTM Kiran Gandhi did, it takes strength, persistence and relentless belief to stay focused in accomplishing a mission.

It’s the essence of who we had and still have to be in order to bring you the benefits of Maxim Hygiene Products, which is why we ingrained the #FierceWoman trait so deeply in to our brand’s identity. We had to work so hard to break the traditional habits of menstrual care product shoppers to help them understand the benefit of an alternative type of tampon in Maxim and this year we feasted on the fruits of our labor more joyously than ever with our message being heard louder than ever via stories like this one that finally broke in to the mainstream media.

In honor and in gratitude of all the non-traditional ways we had to take to get to where we are today, here are some shockingly alternative ways we’d like to suggest celebrating the most awesome holiday of Thanksgiving.

  1. Stop being a #FIERCEWOMAN – Yup, we said it. Every Fierce Woman needs a break, a time to regenerate and contemplate. It’s hard work taking a stand for what you believe in every second of the day so take a day to just go with the flow (pun intended) instead and sometimes you’ll be pleasantly surprised to see your beliefs unfold on their own without any effort.
  2. Meditate – Yes, we hear ya! Taking a breather for any #FierceWoman is a challenge because most of us are just wired to take action all the time. We dream of vacation but love and breathe our life’s work and mission instead. Meditation is a chance to breathe the purest breath you’ve ever breathed. If done correctly and over time, you’ll be amazed at just how much more powerful being can be over doing. Never meditated? Try these great meditations by Lacy Young, a guest blogger from earlier this year.
  3. Be of Service – Ok, if meditation is not for you, here’s a great way to experience the power of BEing in an action oriented – give your time to a good cause. In addition to counting your blessings on Thanksgiving, it’s nice to provide the same opportunity to others who may not feel the same. We’ll be at the Educational Alliance in downtown NYC serving up a pre-Thanksgiving holiday meal to senior citizens. Search your local communities for organizations in need…we’re sure you’ll be able to find something especially during this time of year.
  4. Fast – Nope, that’s not a typo…we didn’t forget the letter “e” between the letters “f” and “a.” We feast on Thanksgiving to give thanks. May we dare to say that fasting can be a more humbling way to do the same? Believe it or not, this isn’t as “non-traditional” of a way as we may think it is, considering as we learned in doing our research for this idea, fasting is how the original Pilgrims celebrated the Thanksgiving holiday.

Note to Self – For a #FierceWoman, diamonds aren’t typically her best friend, as the saying goes. Instead, we’d venture to say post-it notes are! What better way to remind herself of all the tasks she’s got to accomplish in order to change the world than multi-colored post it notes. Well, we can think of a better way…let’s replace using post it notes for “to do” list with a “to be” list. Need some inspiration? Here’s one we pulled from world renowned yogi, Elena Brower’s Instagram account. Elena’s really good at because she posts similar inspirational notes to herself and followers a few times a week, so it might not be a “non-traditional” practice for her but we hope it will be for you along with all of our other suggestions from this post.

Happy Thanksgiving! We are truly thankful to serve you.
