The menstrual movement is making monumental strides again and because it’s almost Thursday, we wanted to start off with a #TBT moment that looks back on some of our work with one of many amazing organizations we’ve supported and that is leading the way in to the future of the menstrual movement, PERIOD. In 2016, when she was only 18 years old, founder Nadya Okamoto reached out to us for help with her cause, which was running under a different name at the time, to end period poverty and period stigma.
Her story and passion inspired us so much that we were able to help get them started by making our largest single donation of 280,000 tampons to their organization to help 33,000 women in need.
Fast forward 3 years, and they have already grown exponentially with no signs of stopping!

They are now the largest youth-run nonprofit in women’s health and have helped over 900,000 periods! They have over 600 campus chapters in all 50 states and 30 countries. We are so happy to continue our relationship with this groundbreaking organization by supporting their efforts in the world’s first National Period Day.
National Period Day is Coming!
On October 19th, PERIOD is holding rallies in all 50 states to elevate the issue of period poverty, demand real change to make period products more accessible for all, and end the Tampon Tax. For more information about National Period Day or to find out how to get involved with a rally in your state, head to www.period.org/nationalperiodday.

Meanwhile, New York is Making Headlines.
As we’ve reported on and participated in the past, our home state of New York has lead the way in making and incorporating period policies – passing bills that include eliminating the tampon tax and providing free menstrual products to public schools, shelters, and correctional facilities.
Now, New York has become the first state to require ingredient disclosure for period products (something we’ve been doing proudly for years!). Last Friday, Governor Andrew Cuomo signed a bill that requires ingredient disclosure for tampons, pads, menstrual underwear, and cups. The law goes into effect 180 days after signing, and companies have 18 months to update their packaging to meet the new requirements.
Because of this, New York has, once again, made menstrual history!
Still searching for period products that have been fully disclosing their ingredients for over a decade? Look no further! Our 100% natural and organic cotton products and have nothing to hide:
