An Ode to my Elbow

The iconic image of Rosie the Riveter prominently raising her elbow as a symbol of strength!

Maxim Hygiene was developed with Body, Earth, and Health in mind. So let’s take a moment to LOVE OUR BODIES!! Here’s a start…

An Ode to my Elbow
by GreenQueenDM

Just like Pablo Neruda knows
It’s always nice to write odes,
That’s why I think it’s time somebody wrote
One of those for her elbows.

Ignored in most modern poetry,
Shakespeare was only really
Very complimentary
Of other features of his lover’s body.

I say it’s time that we wrote for the neglected part
Of the female body that is not as cliché as the heart
The one the bends to acute angles or can start
A very righteous, feminist march.

It’s my elbow, and I love it just as much
As any other part of my body I can touch.
The skin, though dry and stretchy, is also tough,
It reminds me of me just a bit. Well, enough.

I may bend to keep relationships afloat,
And I may have to be tough when it’s cold and I forget my coat.
And, I may sometimes have dry humor, but I don’t
Cower from an obstacle that is dangerous like a moat.

I am a woman, and my elbow is a part of me.
I love my elbow although it’s difficult to see.
Every night, before I go to sleep,
My elbow helps me sip from my cup of tea.

The moral of my ode is this:
Do not forget the small things in life, sis.
We need our elbows for all the simplest
Of things. Well, you get the gist.
