Krazy for Kale!

The Maxim Hygiene Green Queen is Krazy for Kale

Now, I’m going to make this short and sweet.  This vegetable is the main component of one of my favorite recipes, so get your ovens ready, ladies!

Kale Chips –  All you need is a bit of kale, a tablespoon of olive oil and some salt.  Your ready for some of the best tasting chips you’ll ever have, and purely homemade!  Preheat the oven to 350, and get a cookie sheet ready with a piece of parchment paper.  Remove the leaves of the kale tearing them into bite size pieces (after washing them thoroughly of course).  Drizzle with olive oil and sprinkle with salt.  Bake for about 12 minutes, or until brown.  Voila!  And, you got yourself the best dang chips you’ll ever have in your life.

Why am I so krazy for kale, you might be asking yourself.  Well, eating kale actually lowers the risk for many types of cancer including cancer of the bladder, breast, colon, and ovary.  Eating kale is also great for detoxification of the body.  If you need to get the poison out of your system, replace it with some cholesterol-lowering, high-fiber kale!

If you want to go a bit healthier than kale chips, just steam the leaves…  That way, you get the most nutrients out of them and don’t eat extra, unnecessary sodium.  The vitamins in this plant are off the scale.

Packed with antioxidants, anti-inflammatories, glucosinolates and cancer-preventatives, kale is the go-to food.  You should have this in your diet at least twice a week, if not more!

Go to the store, and pick out a good one.  It’s easy to spot a good plant.  It should be firm and have deeply colored leaves with moist, hardy stems.  Keep it cool so the leaves don’t wilt.  If you see any brown or discoloring, throw it back in the pile.  They are fantastic.  Although most widely available middle of winter through spring, I know for a fact my supermarket has them year round. If they got it, grab it, and join the kale kraze.
